Charcoal Art
Hello my name is Angela Coonce. I have a Associates Degree in Visual Art and Bachelors of Arts in Social Science. I'm currently working towards my masters in Art Education.
I think that art can make you look at yourself and your life in ways that can comfort you, or discomfort you. I don't expect anyone to get the same emotion, expression, or intention of my work. I believe in the saying "art is in the eye of the beholder"
My work is a type of realism, in a way but i alter perspective, color and form to achieve the final result. when I begin a piece I usually have an idea of what I want it to look like, but generally it takes on a life of its own as the piece progresses. I never know what the final piece will look like until I feel it is finished.
I don't use one type of material, I like to be creative. The tool that I use the most is charcoal. I love to work with charcoal because it captures the different tones of my work, especially in my figure drawings.
